Womb cancer or weight gain causing a period

I have started bleeding today after 3 years of no periods.

I think it’s probably related to weight loss- I lost a huge amount of weight in 2021 which probably triggered loss of periods at age 46. BMI was around 19.

Never had any symptoms of menopause or perimenopause.

I have now regained some weight quite recently and finally had a period. BMI around 23-24. After 3 years of nothing. Now at age 50. Have low tummy pains coinciding with the bleeding starting, and feels just like a period.

Obviously I need to go to the gp and rule out womb cancer, given my age. What do you think? Does anyone know if womb cancer causes continuous bleeding or period like bleeding with mild cramps?

OMG, thinking back a couple of days ago I had sore nipples. Which has now gone. I also had constipation the last 2 days which was unusual, and I always used to get this right before a period.

Can’t believe it. Better go back on that diet!

This evening it’s turned into a proper period.

There could be many reasons for this, with only a small risk that it's endometrial cancer. However, even a tiny risk is too high to ignore, and you must make an appointment to see your GP.
