Does anyone else have flu?

I started feeling unwell on Saturday, and by Sunday evening I felt shocking. I've had three negative Covid tests so think it must be flu - anyone else? Apparently the flu vaccine this year (which I've had) is only 35% effective.

I feel so horrible!

No, I wasn't suggesting they caught it because they were vaxxed - just that, if it isn't that effective, there seems little point anyone having it unless they are ECV.

I get that, and I have never bothered to pay for the flu vaccine for that reason. I also didn’t think you were suggesting that they caught it because they were vaxxed - I’m definitely not very coherent this evening!

But this has always been the issue with the flu jab. It's a speculation game every year and sometimes the scientist hit the jackpot and get all the big strains in the jab, massively limiting spread as well as protecting the ECV and other years they get it catastrophically wrong and there are many many deaths (I think this happened in 2018). It sounds like this year is not going to be great.

I've had the vaccine for years (used to be a hospice chaplain where it was mandatory and just got into the habit) and this is the first time I've had flu while vaccinated, So annoying!

Had it for 3 weeks. Only feel ok enough to function, go the gym and see friends today after getting unwell on the 3rd December. A week of chills, high temp, exhausted but all coupled with sensitive stomach nausea, no appetite. I’ve lost so much weight and look awful.

get well soon everyone

So sorry that you had it so badly. The temperature is certainly persistent: paracetamol isn't touching it.

Well, anecdotally, even though DH and DS2 had it, DS1 and I, both vaccinated in October, managed not to catch it off them. I shared a bed with DH, throughout and chased DS2 with the sick bucket and regularly got coughed on by him. So the vaccination isn't completely useless.

Me and daughter started with this Saturday aswell and still feel terrible... no idea what it is...son only had temperature and coughing ,me and her.... just horrible...she's just sleeping constantly, and if i could id be doing the same! No energy at all and no improvement....

So sorry to hear that you have it too! Mine lasted for about ten days, with about four days being really horrible. I returned to work today and have had to take it very slowly....

DH came down with it last Sunday after a weekend visit to MIL and even took a day off work on Monday (unheard of for him so he was really sick). He still felt rough but went into work the rest of the week.

I woke up during the night, coughing badly. Am feeling fairly crap but had to go food shopping and other shopping and deal with work reports that needed to get issued. But I am curled up on the couch and had some bread and butter for dinner (I had a lovely steak out of the freezer to eat!).

I hope I'll be somewhat better tomorrow, as DH flies over to me on Sunday and DD arrives from Uni on Monday.
