Swollen vocal cords and pain

I was diagnosed with a swollen vocal chord and nodules on them a few days ago. My voice has been raspy since a bout of sinusitis in October but suddenly on Tuesday it hurt to talk at all, so I went to the doctor on Wednesday who gave me this diagnosis (I'm in a different country with great healthcare access).

The thing is my voice box really hurts, and I feel dizzy and sick if I say more than a couple of words (whereas I was talking normally, just a bit hoarse before Tuesday). 'The internet' also says swollen vocal cords/nodules are painless ...

Has anyone else had this? I will book another ENT appointment next week, but wondered if anyone else had experienced the same thing.
