Have just got back from my 18 month olds MMR. It was awful but anyway they said that she might get a bit hot and grumpy today and give her calpol and if there were going to be any other side effects then they wouldn't show themselves for 7-10 days. She said that only a very very small % of children get a rash at this time and so if that happened it would be contagious but if not then no if you see what I mean.

I'm a Practice nurse, and we are trained to say the immediate reaction up to 24hrs is pain at injection site, temperature, unsettled. In 7-10 days, they may have a rash, sore swollen glands around neck, temperature etc.NOT infectious as its just the way the vaccine works.

Thanks for your help least I know what to look for now and that it is ok to keep minding him if he shows symptoms.
