Does anyone have any advice for dealing with IBS? When I say I'm new to IBS, I've been dealing with stress related IBS for a few years, I just didn't know it was IBS.
A year ago I had a colonoscopy which was clear. Dr also tested for Chrons etc and all was good.
I noticed I only suffered with cramping and diarrhea when I was out of the home, travelling etc. I'd heard about gut directed hypnotherapy so had a few sessions. All was going good until I had to have my gallbladder removed and this seemed to bring all the symptoms back. I'm currently using a hypnotherapy app which initially seemed to be working but it's like my brain is fighting back as it knows it's being 'tricked'.
I'm absolutely terrified of leaving the house. Travelling anywhere is a nightmare. I have a big event coming up soon and I know I'll spend the whole weekend eating Imodium.
I just don't know what to do but it's taking over my life. There doesn't seem to be a day when I'm not thinking about it.
The only thing I haven't tried is the fodmap diet but there are days when I eat lots of the high FM foods and if I'm at home, relaxed, there is no effect/diarrhea so I'm thinking it's not really food related.
I'm so fed up.
