Left or right? Any fever?

SlartyBartFast · 28/04/2008 21:53

directly below avenap.

she did have a fever on saturday but not since, GP surgery receptionist suggested constipation
tis worrying but on the other hand don't want to be told off by gp for taking her with a minor tummy bug

GP's won't tell you off. That's their job, to look at warts and all. The policy where I am is to send all children with abdominal pain to A&E in case of appendicitis. You need to take her to the GP so that he can feel her tummy, he'll/she'll be able to tell if it's constipation however pale stools can be a sign of a number of things and should be checked out. Receptionists have a bit of knowledge but should not be diagnosing children over the phone and with no medical qualifications. If she's off her food she will be pale. You need to make sure she's drinking though. Tell her she'll have to go to school or the doctors. I would give NHS Direct a call if you are concerned. I hope she's feeling better soon. A hot water bottle should help the pain.
