how can I find out the target waiting time to see a consultant gynae?

Phone the Outpatients Department they should be able to give you some idea. If not phone Consultant Secretary.

It's 11 weeks from referral to treatment for everywhere I think these days (that's a maximum btw). But you can call your local hospital and ask them what their average times are or look it up on their website usually.

Another alternative is to see a gynae privately, then ask to go onto his/her NHS list. You'd have to pay around £100=£150 for the consultation, but you could jump the queue by a few weeks. If you can afford it, it's well worth it.
