Hi I'm currently 6 weeks pregnant and have been using ovitrine for my really bad congestion now I've found out it's not safe and I'm freaking out think I've hurt my baby

The placenta hasn't even formed that early, baby would be getting all its nutrition from the yolk sac so I very much doubt you could cause any harm at all! Try not to worry. Lots of women don't even realise they're pregnant at 6 weeks and are doing much worse!

But yes in future, you basically can't take anything in pregnancy for congestion except saline nasal spray.

Most medicines say you can’t take them in pregnancy purely because they didn’t include pregnant women in the clinical trial for the licence. So company’s cover their back and say it’s not suitable.

Looks like it’s on an approved list if needed, sprays aren’t absorbed easily into the body. But I wouldn’t use it unless you really need it.

I used it all the way through my last pregnancy, for chronic congestion, not realising it wasn't supposed to be used.
All was fine (barring weaning myself off it!)
