Hi any advice or experiences please!
I had the flu a few weeks back and now I have what I thought was a sinus infection had an over the phone appointment told my symptoms and was prescribed antibiotics doxycycline.
my symptoms were pain in eye and eyebrow and bridge of nose on right side of face and behind eye. Funky green mucus but by far the worst … don’t read if eating !!!

a foul smell like something has died up my nose it’s disgusting my dd can’t even sit near me.
im on day 3 of antibiotics prescribed 5 day course felt a bit better on the 2 day but today the smell seems worse pain in face is a bit better but now I’m wondering if maybe something is up my nose as I brought new fluffy gloves a few weeks back I itched my nose and felt some fluff go up my nose?? Could it be that or is this normal to still have smell and green snot on day 3?
any stories to give me hope that when I’ve completed antibiotics will be better or should I book an appointment

When I had a sinus infection the doctor recommended sterimar for cleaning out my nasal cavity.

I can highly recommend. It's just salt water so not medicine as such.

I found it helpful in getting rid of mucus and pressure.

I hope the antibiotics work soon.

Was there a gap between the flu and the sinus infection?
Have you tried a sinus rinse? I've had sinus infections, they are horrible and take ages to clear, but I don't think it should be getting worse whole on anti bs. I bought a netti pot thing last time and it did help a bit, and if you have something up there it might shift it. If the infection is one side of your face I'd start with up the good side and wash it out, rather than washing the infected side into the good side IYSWIM.
They are on amazon, pretty cheap and not nearly as horrible as I thought it would be.

I feel your pain OP, and your daughter's! My GP would always suggest going to the seaside on a windy day! Just make sure you wrap up warm, covering your ears with a hat! Good luck.

It shouldn't smell .
Buy yourself a sterimar saline rinse to clear your passages.
Book an appointment with your GP as they may need a sample to test what it is so they can treat you with specific antibiotics to target what you have.

When I had a sinus infection I had a lot of bright green snot. I'd never seen anything like it before.

The antibiotics worked well. It only took a couple of days to feel an improvement.

There wasn't any smell though. I too would be concerned you actually have a foreign body trapped somewhere that's causing the infection.

I really think you need someone to have a look. Do you have a walk in centre? If not I'd push for a face to face GP appointment.

To add- I've had mucus of all gross colours and nasty tasting with a sinus infection but never a smell. It would make me consider a foreign body, I'd maybe try the rinse and wait one more day, if that didn't work I'd try and get it seen in person.

Definitely try the NeilMed sinus rinse. You may have a lot of gunk stuck up there and repeated rinsing should clear it. I remember when a young child had a bead wedged in their nostril for a long time, they started smelling really badly so it could be what you are experiencing. Hope you get some relief soon

You could also try steam. You can buy a little cup with a thing that goes over the nose very cheaply, practically anywhere. You put in hot water, you can add some eucalyptus oil to it, and inhale the steam. Just check it isn't too hot so you don't add a scalded nose to your problems.
