Hand hold, DH blood in poo and colonoscopy

DH, had blood on the loo paper about once a week for a month.

Also gripey tummy, constipation and diarrhoea occasionally...

Went to gp

he had a poo test and it came back with high levels of inflammation in the calpro test 1900.

The bowel cancer screening test hasn't come back yet

He's been on Omeprazole for 7 years so we read this can have a bad effect on gut inflammation.

But obviously worried it could be cancer.

He's been referred to get colonoscopy week on Tuesday.

I'm really panicking about it all. Feel dreadful.

Hoping for any reassurance or a hand hold...

why do these worries seem even worse on Sunday evenings????

It's good he's having a colonoscopy, but it does sound like it could well be a pile and/or perhaps a polyp. Blood will show up in the test if there's a hemorroide.

There are lots of other things it could be besides cancer - Crohn’s, colitis, diverticulitis, etc etc. I know it’s easier said than done (and I say that as someone who’s lost 3 close relatives to bowel cancer) but you really can’t predict anything at this stage.

I had a high calprotectin level, over 600 and had to have a colonoscopy as they thought I had crohns, luckily it wasn't. They did find a poylp and haemorrhoids. Try not to worry, its good he is having all the tests done.
