'scuse me, but when your children first got chickenpox, what did the spots look like?

Dd has had a raised temperature for 4 days, and has woken up with spots on her tummy & back - but not blistery looking - just flat, red blotches, slightly raised & dry.

I could take & upload photo to my profile if that would help?

blisters with both DSs. A bit like if you go on holiday and sunbathe and your skin bubbles.

with ds2 i literally sat and watched them pop up

really mummyjaguar - so there was that sort of fluidy bit straight away?
Humm, maybe she's got something else...

yes there was fluid immediately with ds2 but he had it very mildly at three months and only had 14 spots. with ds1 i'm not sure since he went to nursery and when i took off his nappy at home his groin area was just covered in blisters.

DDs looked just as you describe to begin with then turned into blisters within a day or so. At first I thought it was insect bites - no fluid. Has she been in contact with it do you know? DD was also pretty grumpy for a few days beforehand.

insect bites , sort of red blotches which developed a centre about a day or so later

Sounds like chickenpox, friends DS has got them at the moment and that's how his started. My 2 DD's haven't had them but starting nursery in 5 weeks, wonder if I should let them get it before they go?

Aha, sounding more promising - insect bites is exactly it. And yes, she's had temperature for the last 4 days, so it's been brewing
