DD 15 pill for heavy, painful periods

DD 15 been prescribed Levest combined pill (I understand is same formula as Ridgevidon/ Microgynon) for terribly heavy, painful periods - last one lasted 14 days. She was flooding a ST every couple of hrs throughout.
She's been taking the pill for just under fortnight and started to bleed heavily again 1 week in with awful cramping. Her face is very spotty too. She's so fed up. So sign of it slowing yet.
I know you have to give it 3 months or so for things to settle but any words of experience and encouragement? I had no problems at all when I took the pill. I just feel so sorry for her. It's miserable.

My daughter is the same. And they suggested the pill but I'm v worried how that may affect her moods because it used to make me extremely emotional.

I had the mirena coil to stop my heavy bleeding and it worked perfectly. My daughter would like the same but I'm v worried about how much it might hurt to get it in but it offers 5-7 years of no/very light periods.

Microgynon made me absolutely emotionally unstable. Lizinna was so much better for me. Get GP to refer to a gynaecologist.
