Anal skin tags - what's the worst that could happen...?

They're definitely just skin tags because the GP said so. GP also said they won't do anything about them. But they're a nuisance and can make keeping clean tricky. I bought a skin tag banding kit but I'm scared to use it because the instructions say they're not for sensitive areas.... but what's the actual realistic worst that could happen if I gave it a shot? Would I die? Make an embarrassing visit to A&E?

I would be tempted if it was an inconvenience like you say. However, how on earth are you planning to get the things on? I would definately not trust my non medical dh peering over my anus through his reading glasses......

I think it would be fine but would be quite hard to achieve without help.

Thinking logically there is a lot of bacteria down there so infection must be a high risk. I would pay to go private and get a professional to do it, a major infection of the ringpiece doesn't appeal to me.

The worst that can happen is that it will fucking hurt (if you get it done professionally they’d numb the area first), and also won’t work if you don’t band the right part.

Personally I’d crack on, but I’m pretty reckless. Probably more sensible to see a doctor.

I have arms like an orang utan. Lie down on floor (in front of mirror). It's definitely possible.

Infection risk in that area is massive - I really wouldn't DIY.

Personally I think you'd struggle to diy as you really couldn't see where they should go exactly. Also when I had mine done in hospital the Dr checked I wasn't going away or had an event to attend as could be painful over next few days . When I had some done , and whilst still in hospital visit the loo and noticed the band had fallen off and was in the water . Mentioned to the nurse and she said it can happen and seemed nonplussed , nothing was ever done to replace.
Also they have different size bands , how do you know which to use ?

NC for this 😂 I did exactly that with a kit from Amazon. It worked but my god it hurt! I did three of them one at a time and I was in such pain for a couple of days each time that it took me months to build the courage to go again after each one. I'm glad I did it because I don't have the big ugly tags now but I have one much smaller residual lumpy bit. I am still a little self conscious but it's not half as bad as it was. Just be really careful with keeping yourself clean before and after.
