Sex after childbirth

Not sure if this is the right forum to ask this, but has anyone experience with an (ahem) much smaller vagina after natural vaginal birth?
I'm finding sex really uncomfortable, despite being completely relaxed, and my partner just seems far too big for me...I know the uterus shrinks back down but is it possible that vaginas do as well?
Sorry if this is all TMI but I'd be really keen to know how this could be overcome (other than masses of lubricant, which hasn't worked). I had a really positive and straightforward birthing experience so aren't harbouring any negativity (I think!!).
Thanks!

I've found after DS2 that I am a lot smaller.
I did have to be "rebuilt" as DS2 was a 10lb 11oz whopper. It also felt for a while like it was angled differently iyswim.
All totally fine after about 3mths, but did take some perseverence!

hi.

First of all, this is definitely the right forum to ask this.

After I had dd2 (natural, no intervention, no tears... all well) I won't say I was smaller, but it was different. It did take quite a few times for it to feel right.

How old is the baby? Perhaps it is just too soon?

Blimey, DD came out the catflap so I have no idea, but you have really cheered me up at the prospect of shrinking after childbirth

Thanks for the replies
Baby is 5 weeks tomorrow....hmm maybe i'm being a little optimistic that we can get rampant this soon? food for thought.......

5 Weeks!!!!!!
Cor Blimey Guvnor, I didn't even feel vaguely like trying to "get jiggy" until at least 9weeks, and that was only because I felt I had to. My BF was amazed as she said it was the only time she'd ever known me sans libido! Put her off having babies for a while.

PuppyDogTails · 26/04/2008 21:19

I wouldn't worry at 5 weeks! Only now am I starting to feel anything approaching 'normal' and DS is nearly 1 yr!

I had 2 very normal vaginal deliveries with smallish babies, but even so, felt like I'd been kicked in the crotch by a cart-horse for many, many weeks afterwards. Give yourself a break. Be imaginative in other ways

Did you have any tears/stitches?

Are you breastfeeding?

Both can make a big difference in how things feel downstairs in the first few weeks.

AdelaideJo · 28/04/2008 11:44

Had 6 perineal stitches, healed quickly. No, I think you all are right actually, we tried again and it just isn't happening!!! I just feel anatomically totally different... I've been expressing every day for the last 5 weeks...I do fancy it, it just won't go in .

thanks for all your comments, I know its all a bit personal but the only thing i've ever heard before is jokes about having to 'tighten yourself up' again after childbirth - not the other way around!
