Blood in her nappy....

Dd(19mnths) had blood in her nappy after swimming yesterday afternoon. Dh had them while I was at work in the evening and when I got back noticed blood in her dirty nappy in the bathroom ( men). I couldn't tell in her overnight nappy because it was a pampers (other nappies reusable)and the stupid green lining made it impossible to tell what colour it was. She's done one wet nappy this am and it appears to be ok. Should I think she's had a UTI that's passed or should I get her checked out?

this is mostly a bump, as i don't know the answer, but i think i would worry whatever i was told, so personally i would call out of hours for some advice.

Thanks missorinoco. I rang NHS direct who said to keep an eye on her and get her to the out of hours dr if the blood returned. Wish it was as weekday, I'd have just popped a sample over to the surgery to be dipped.

Can't add anything constructive here but just wanted to say hope your dd's okay.

Has she been constipated lately . ?
If so could be an anal fissure ( often visible if you have a really good look ).
Heals up without treatment .

Dont worry about this if its a one off .

Just try not to panic . Keep checking her nappies .
Are you Sure it was blood ? and not some red food . Was s kinda mixd thru the poo or just on top ? how much was there . Thats the kinda thing youll need to have a look for IF it occurs again . Did she have diarrhoea ? It can happed with a bad gut infection .

But mainly JUST dont worry . This kinda thing in a kiddie IS almost 100% certain NOT a sign of anything serious .
Good luck

I think she's ok now. I knew she wasn't right before I noticed the blood. The poor little mite is fed up with me checking her nappies today!
