Been up since about 11pm with very bad stomach ache, I am pretty sure it's caused by wind - too low down for appendix or anything.
Have taken a rap eze tablet and had a hot water bottle and just now taken a paracetamol as it is so horrid. Hoping this might help.
I had one of those bean burgers yesterday with kidney beans in it and I suspect this is the reason...just wish I could take something to make it stop hurting.
No other symptoms.
Thanks if anyone has any ideas x

Probably should suggest phoning NHS24 for advice. My own home remedy, which has often worked for me is a glass of health salts or real fizzy lemonade, cola, etc. - Drink in great gulps whilst still fizzing, makes you burb copiously, pain eases.

Thanks! It's taking my mind off it a bit being on MN at least...

Can't ring NHS as they ring back and babes will wake up...amazed they haven't already, the sound of typing usually is enough!

try eating a slice od bread or drinking a glass of milk - both good indigetion recipies.

If not, fing your local 24 hr tesco and buy some gaviscon!

Fllight · 26/04/2008 02:13

Ooh does that really work? The bread/milk thing?

Hmm this is when one wishes for a handy husband to go on a midnight mission and procure useful medicaments.

Actually I do have gaviscon. I thought that was for heartburn?

worth a go amyway - wont do any harm, and might make you able to sleep!

slim22 · 26/04/2008 03:07

Best tip to soothe is hot water bottle on your tummy + massage + drink peppermint tea.

madamez · 26/04/2008 03:30

WHere is the pain, Flight? And what do you feel you most want to do to shift it? SHit? Burp? Puke or fart? If the pain is high up under your ribs and you feel a little bit breathless with it then PHONE FOR MEDICAL HELP RIGHT NOW. Phone NHS Direct and tell them exactly where the discomfort is and how long you have had it.

Fllight · 26/04/2008 06:56

Thankyou all, I am still alive and it has got a lot better...it was low down, Madamez - just bad wind I think. I am never going to eat bean burgers again
I suspect they weren't cooked properly, as red kidney beans can be really toxic if that's the case. I read last night that they can even kill you!
Had about 2 hours sleep, sort of...but at least it is manageable now. You're very kind, all of you
