(not pregnancy-related) Anyone else have this? I am going to be given a 24-hour monitor at some point soon and want to know a) how annoying is it and b) what happens next? (because I know it's too high, have a hostory of it being too high etc). Reading at GP this morning was 160/110.

24 hour monitoring isn't that bad- just get used to your arm being squeezed every so often. This type of monitoring is used to give an idea of what your BP is doing throughout the day while you are doing normal things, as some people have artificially high readings at the doctors caused by anxiety.

If it is still high, you may be asked to have some blood tests, a urine dip and an ECG. After this, your GP may suggest that you start on medication or make modifications to your lifestyle (stop smoking, lose weight, reduce salt and alcohol).
