Earache when adult teeth are coming through?

My dd (7.11) is a 'slow teether' and has her two front teeth coming through, the old ones are literally hanging on in there - giving her an odd Nanny McPhee look but that is by the by - anyway she has had earache on and off for a couple of weeks, usually just before bedtime or at lunchtime at school - Calpol sorts it out but my mil is muttering things like 'perforated eardrum' at me so I'd like some reassurance that it is probably new teeth....before i drag her to the doctors and deprive a sick person of an appointment.....

any experiences to share?

Funny you should post. The school called me on Monday lunchtime saying DD1 (6.5yo) had earache. I took her to the GP because she rarely gets earache (and it never lasts) but she had complained about the same thing the night before. GP said it was a bit red and prescribed antibiotics. She also has a wobbly front tooth...

If the earache continues I'd take her to GPs, in case it develops an bad infection. Not only will that really hurt but it might ruin her eardrum and make your MIL very smug!

thanks for that Duchess - I suppose I should take her.
