Had weeks of constipation and tiredness and two bouts of intense cramps and swelling, passing tiny poops followed by diarrhea and vomiting undigested food.
Family history of bowel cancer and clear colonoscopy four years ago.

Now haven't pooped for 5 days since the last bout. Feeling the undigested food in burps, have had back pain build over the last few days, very uncomfortable.

Saw GP after both bouts and have poo tests to do, but haven't managed a poo since the bouts, def the second bout.

I'm certain I have an intestinal blockage or swelling but GP and 111 don't seem too bothered. Should I go to A&E? As it stands I'd expect another bout today/ tomorrow.

That doesn't sound great, OP. I'm sorry to hear this. I'm not sure about A&E, but I'd go back to your GP and ask for an urgent referral.

Hmmmm I might be tempted to go to A&E, if you can be bothered with the wait, as you could well have a blockage. A friend of mine was fobbed off and she had one. She's fine now but they keep an eye on her and she has drugs to keep things moving.

Thank you, appreciate replies.

I will see how tonight goes, Saturday Halloween in a&e prob a terrible idea. There is an urgent treatment centre open I can try tomorrow if no movement.

I would go to a&E and see if you can get an x-ray for blockage, although the good news is that you're able to go.
I suffer many intestinal issues so blockages for me happen a couple of times a year, it's painful and uncomfortable

So sorry to hear that, thank you for the advice

Have you been tested for coeliac? My symptoms were similar to yours and I was eventually diagnosed with coeliac disease.

Brightredtulips · 27/10/2024 06:31

Call gp. This isn't an accident or an emergency. This is constipation though I do understand the seriousness of it. Get a bowel softener and use regular fibogel . Also buscopan when required. Gp can give you a prescription or buy.

I was only worried as it seemed to be a complete obstruction, which is an emergency but gladly it's not so will follow up with GP.

Have you need and checked it's not an obstruction now, hope you feel better

wotsitallfor · 27/10/2024 19:04

Had lots of movement last night, all through the night but it's def a complete blockage. I'll follow up with GP, luckily we have private through my husbands work so they are usually more willing to refer then for a check.

Thank you for well wishes.

outdamnedspots · 29/10/2024 22:00

wotsitallfor · 31/10/2024 10:11
