Abnormal Smear test, biopsy taken and Dr advising HRT

My friend has had an abnormal smear, been taken in for a biopsy and is waiting results.

Do you think this is right.....apparently she has suffered hot sweats and has been told she is going through her change and she has been put on HRT (She is 40).

Im no doctor but do you think she should have been put on this baring in mind she is waiting results of potential cervical cancer?

As far as I know HRT won't affect cervical cancer. It's not a hormonally-driven cancer like breast or uterine cancer can be.

I would make a call on her HRT when the results of the biopsy are back. A few weeks extra HRT will make no difference in the long run. However, if she wants to stop the HRT of her own accord that would be fine too and can always be restarted if everything turns out to be OK.
