My little boy has hand, foot and mouth, woke up with a sore throat that's getting worse and suddenly wondered if it could be that, how did anyone else's as an adult start?

Same. Then I got ulcers in my mouth.

Same. I asked the doctor when I took my son in. She said adults often won't have the rash/spots but it was likely my razor sore throat was HFM and it would pass. It didn't last too long although I gargled TCP as a last resort and felt immediately better after that. She also recommended a throat spray (which I'd had for tonsillitis weeks before) and that was okay too.
