'Hot' point on top of 1 foot

I'm getting an odd hot sensation on the top of the front of my foot (below ankle).

I can only describe it as though there's a hot poker being placed on my foot every 10 minutes. It's been like this all day.

Any ideas?

@JustLaura I know this is an old thread, but did you ever find out the cause?
