Is saccharin just as bad as aspartame?

Dh took ds to the dr's yesterday for his mouth ulcers and doctor gave us a mouth spray for him. I'm very strict on no aspartame in medicine, so dh dutifully got it without - but it has saccharin in it, which i always thought was just as bad?

it's only a very small dose so i doubt it'll do any real harm, but i was wondering for future reference!

I read on some internet site which talked about the dangers of artificial sweeteners, that the only two that had no evidence of causing harm were saccharine and sorbitol. If this is anything to go by, you're probably OK.
