It has worked a treat.

In fact, it has worked so well, and DH is out, I might need another, just to help me sleep, given that I have not slept well for two days.

Really though. My throat has been sooo sore I have hardly been able to eat for the last two days. I have been in tears, paracetamol have not helped at all. Then I was so fed up this evening with feeling so awful that I just thought sod it, and made a Manhattan, my throat has felt so much better than my voice has actually come back.

I wonder why Drs dont recommend this

I find alcohol works well too!

However, have you also tried gargling with soluble paracetamol? This was a good second when my throat was really painful.

rose - oh no i have not. Probably not the best thing to do right now, but neither is a manhattan in the day time.

I will try it tomorrow morning, or in the middle of the night as I expect it will come back with a vengence. Last night I was lucid dreaming. I was asleep, but knew I had my mouth open, with my throat drying out and could do nothing about it . It was horrid! I shall try the paracetamol.

Actually I asked DH to get me some, he said he could not find any, like he could not find Rocks squash i guess, so he did not get any for me . I shall get some in the morning

Vodka and coke always works for me

Oh Pavlov.. you have my sympathy. I have got a throat so sore it hurts right up into my ears. I have been living on smoothy lollies for the last two days. No food. When i woke up this morning it was agony to even swallow, so I resorted to gargling with dettol diluted in warm water. Vile and made me gag, but stopped the pain for an hour or so.

My Dr said 'viral infection' and 'it appears to be very sore'! I wish someone would pay me £100k to be so insightful! I would be very rich .

Gargle with whisky if you have some. You dont have to drink it, unless like me you are partial to it anyway! I am so annoyed I did not think of last night, or the night before - although I felt so awful the last two nights, with fever and all, alcohol would not have been appealing.

Must be on the mend eh?
