Eye twitching. Had a brain scan recently all was ok?

I had a brain scan recently because of headaches when exercising. GP wanted a scan quickly. All was normal.
I've been getting sporadic twitching in my right eyelid. It isn't noticeable to others.

I eat well and take a multivitamin plus magnesium. I'm a fairly healthy weight and get plenty of exercise. Probably could do more.

Has anyone experienced this? I know I should see the GP but I get so sick of going. I had bloods done recently because of my age. 50 plus and our surgery likes checks done pretty regularly. My BP can be high at times but then returns to normal.

My left eyelid was twitching on and off all day everyday for about 3 months earlier this year, I went to gp and they asked if I had any eye discharge (no) any loss of vision (no) and blurriness (no) any headaches (no) and then sent me on my merry way. Then it just randomly stopped, I only noticed it had stopped after a few weeks. But it did drive me mad all the time when it was happenint.

If you have had a brain scan and all ok I wouldnt worry?

Oh I've had this eye twitching before. It went after a week or two but was constant at the time. God it was so annoying. It hasn't come back, so think I'm fine. I think maybe I was a bit run down and tired is all.

katcatkat · 05/10/2024 11:23

I get this regularly if I'm stressed or excessively tired and it goes away after a day or so. It's normal as far as I know just a sign tao me to take a break and relax.

CatStoleMyChocolate · 05/10/2024 11:23

I get this when I’m tired and/or stressed.

LegoHouse274 · 05/10/2024 11:25

Eye twitching is super normal, it's usually caused by being tired. NHS website has a page devoted to it called ' twitching eyes and muscles'. I get it fairly often since I was a teen and probably most the people I know do at various times, super common.

Thank you everyone. I feel better now.

I had this constantly for 9 months. Wore a patch as it was so distracting and tiring. Every test going including brain scans. Eventually surgeon said he thought I had the most extreme case of stress he'd seen (didn't feel stressed) and advised a holiday. Took his advice. Twitching stopped.

LushLemonTart · 05/10/2024 15:09

@ginandmenthols oh heck. Glad it worked.

I've just been to Greece. Do you think I need another holiday? 😉

Always!

worriedgal · 05/10/2024 15:17

I get it when I have too much caffeine or am stressed.
Caffeine is a major factor

AdviceNeeded2024 · 05/10/2024 15:40

I suffered from a twitching eyelid in my last job, would come and go, usually lasted anywhere from a few days to a few weeks. Really really annoying. I was massively overworked and constantly knackered in that job, I left and haven’t had it since, so I put it down to stress and tiredness. Excess caffeine can also cause it so make sure you aren’t getting too much but otherwise I’d try not to worry if you don’t have other symptoms

I have eye twitching and sometimes on the left side of my lip, usually when I'm anxious or haven't had enough sleep x

SoNiceToComeHomeTo · 05/10/2024 18:12

Twitchy eyes can go with stress and lack of good quality sleep. Does that sound like you?

LushLemonTart · 05/10/2024 18:12

@AdviceNeeded2024 glad you got out. I've been off work for a couple of weeks but had some stress emptying mils home and trying to buy a home ourselves.

Back at work tomorrow but it's a pretty chill day.

This is exactly it for me too.

mambojambodothetango · 05/10/2024 19:45

DH has had this for 6 months. Agree with stress and too much caffeine.

Ariela · 05/10/2024 19:52

Have you had your eyes tested recently? That too could be a cause of headaches, and the opticians are v good and might have an idea why the eyelid is twitching.

LushLemonTart · 05/10/2024 20:34

I had my eyes tested last month.
