Hand foot and mouth in adults

Help!
I'm coming down with HFM after my two children have had a bout of it.
I'm seeing that it's rare in adults and nothing but horror stories from those who have had it - I'm due to go away next Friday for 4 days and worried I'm not going to make it now!
Any tips/advice/experience from others?!

I caught it off my baby too. Diary at the time:

Had fever to begin with on the Tuesday, then a terrible sore throat (top and back of mouth was covered in red spots), tingling fingers and feet and eventually a few little red spots together with a feeling that my hands and feet were full of splinters. After spots and sore throat subsided (throat by Friday, spots by Sunday), hands and feet took on a slight tingling sensation and felt wrong, like a lack of sensitivity of touch, like my fingers were too smooth. Also arms felt heavy and tired.

If you have it today I should think you'll be over the worst by middle of next week.

Thank you @Heronatemygoldfish I don't feel too horrendous just really mega tired and my mouth is covered but throat isn't too sore.
I'm really hoping I get the worst of it over the weekend so I have a good couple of days before I go.

I had it, it was awful to be honest

My hands were incredibly itchy. Like the worst itch of my life. Really bad, couldn't sleep. Felt bad in myself, but not completely incapacitated. Was out of bed etc. Bad mouth ulcers.

Fingernails fell off a few weeks later.

But I had it again just recently and it wasn't half as bad. Felt a bit under the weather, couple of pimple like spots on my hands.
