Bone spur on gum - 2 week cancer pathway?

Just back from the dentist, who has referred me on the 2 week pathway to the hospital for a sharp lump coming out of the side of my gum. I thought it was a wisdom tooth. Can anyone share reassurance that it's probably not cancer? She didn't like to comment. I've not had any dental work in years other than 6 monthly checkups.

Lump could possibly be a torus which is a bony lump normally on the inside of the mouth. They can grow quite quickly .
It could be a cyst , again can grow quite quickly .
However if dentist is not sure what it is the responsible thing is to refer. Most referrals end up being for benign conditions but a dentist would prefer to be on the very cautious side.
