Does chickenpox start with a temp?

DD had a temp last night, didn't look "well" this morning, but she sobbed her heart out at the suggestion of being off school.

We came to the deal that if she ate all her breakfast and got dressed by herself (she normally whinges and asks for help) then she was well enough to go.

Sent her... now just had a call from mum (works at the school) and told that 3 in her class have gone down with pox and one is her best friend.

Just preparing myself for likelihood really!!!

Desperately hoping not... DS had his MMR last week, really don't want chickenpox whilst he is fighting that, he is low enough already

Not ignoring replies, going to Psycho's... will probably swipe a laptop there

Mum assures me it would be shingles this time as you don't get cp again.

I thought that was a fool proof theory.

Had I not already had it twice... surely the second time would have been shingles going on that theory.

2nd time was fairly mild apparently.

Poor Gecko

Arm spot has gone down, but still very itchy. Several random bumps in the same area, but not growing.

Probably some random allergy now

hiya

yes gecko has cp again BUT
she had it not too badly the first time(although I was a wreck as she was only weeks old) and she seems to be having it not too badly again

she has awfully gunky eyes though but we npw have drops for them so hopefully that will help

hope flamegirl feels better soon

Flamesparrow · 22/04/2008 07:55

No idea what my spots were, but they have gone down and stopped itching. Random allergic reaction maybe??

DD is sobbing for school. She has no spots, so hers seems to be just virus too.

flame.....don't forget....CP can be temo for 3/4 days before the spots....

megs was!!! (altho as I was giving birth to tash I have no real idea how long before spots....could have been 2 days, maybe 5)....she had temp day before I had her apparently, then I saw the spots the day I came home from hospital which was 5days later......MIL swears blind that she had had no spots until that precise moment, and yet she had thousands and been SENT TO SCHOOL...!!!

You don't catch shingles from CP, so your mum is wrong. Shingles can come out in you any time after you have had CP, as the virus lays dormant in your body. It is usually triggered by being excessively run down.

Some people can get chickenpox several times, and never build immunity. Freaks!

I had a feeling she may have been talking gibberish
