For 6 months now I’ve had a severe loss of appetite, I’m living on a slice of toast a day. Lost 3 stone. I’ve got persistent nausea and even smells make me feel sick. I’m so exhausted showering makes me need a lie down. I’m tired no matter how much I sleep. Tests I’ve had
CT scan of abdomen and pelvis
virtual colonoscopy
endoscopy
full body MRI
blood test - the only anomaly is that my platelets keep going out of range then going back into range (at the higher end of normal)
doctors are a bit stumped. They’re talking about referring me to a rapid diagnosis clinic.
it’s affecting my life severely.
has anyone… anyone out there been through similar?

Have they checked for MCAS?

Nothing changed for you otherwise - hormones?

Whatevershallidowithmylife · 23/09/2024 12:35

What medication / vitamins are you taking?

BobbyBiscuits · 23/09/2024 12:38

Could it be CFS? I know they can't really diagnose that until everything else ruled out. Did you have COVID before, could it be long COVID type thing?
I had similar issues but it was due to severe malnutrition/ED. Which it sounds like you don't have.
I'm so sorry you're feeling this way. Definitely go to the rapid diagnosis place or whatever they suggest. I hope you get to the bottom of it and feel better soon.

Push for the rapid diagnosis clinic - highlight your rapid (I presume) weight loss

Mayflower282 · 23/09/2024 12:41

Carbon monoxide poisoning?

Mayflower282 · 23/09/2024 12:44

Addison’s disease?
Hypothyroidism?
Lupus?
Some sort of infection- does anywhere hurt?

WhatMe123 · 23/09/2024 12:50

I've worked in a chronic fatigue/long Covid service and this is something that you may wish to explore op of all other tests come back normal

FanOhFan · 23/09/2024 13:15

Were you fatigued before the low appetite or could it down to the fact you're not managing to eat enough rather than a symptom of what's causing the other issues?

Are you hypermobile? I'm just wondering about Gastroparesis. And I also second the pp who mentioned looking into MCAS

DreamHolidays · 23/09/2024 13:17

Long Covid or ME/CFS
Maybe with added MCAS or POTS

esp if tests show nothing at all

Soontobe60 · 23/09/2024 15:11

The symptoms you describe could be ascribed to having such a restricted calorie intake. Have you tried nutritional meal supplements such as Complan drinks to increase your calories

DreamHolidays · 23/09/2024 15:31

Also gastroparesis for the inability to eat
