Being a w/e there's not exactly an abundance of GPs about.

Is it really, really obvious?

Is there always conjunctivitus?

(it's deffo not just a heat rash or slapped cheek)

Ring NHS direct, they may not be able to offer advice on the phone but they can tell you about a walk in centre or an out of hours doctor.

They get a rash inside their mouth too don't they?
I've been told it's quite hard to diagnose and harder because gps don't see so many cases because of immunisaton.

I'd take him to a&e if you're worried. How old is he?

They get small white spots (called koplik's spont) in their mouth, which are often used to diagnose it. However, would certainly ring NHS direct.

Our GP failed to diagnose DS, so it's obviously not easy! (DS is fine now by the way). The Kopliks spots inside the mouth are the dead giveaway but they go away after a few days of infection. If she has a very high fever then it's worth taking her to emergency GP on call, just in case.

Usually children are pretty unwell/miserable with measles, is he?

Highlander · 19/04/2008 11:29

he is pretty miserable, but no fever or koplik spots. The rash on his forehead has 'submerged'. Will see how it goes.
