Probiotics for diarrhea in 4.5 MO?

My DS, aged 4.5 months, has had diarrhea for the last week. He was off colour for a while and quite down in the dumps, but now he's back to his normal self, except that the nappies just keep coming! We went to the doctor yesterday, and she thought the ongoing diarrhea was reactive, in response to inflammation of the gut. She said it would go away in a week or two if I just carry on bf as normal.

I've heard probiotics can be used to help clear this sort of thing up. Does anyone have any info on this, ie, what, when, how often, and does it work?

i'm thinking of using something called ABC Dophilus powder which is a probiotic poswer you srpinkle on their food with my DS who is 11 months. He has had persisten diarrhoea for the last 6 weeks following some antibitoics. I am not really sure what else to do, GP did a stool sample but its not a bug, said it could be toddler diarrhoea, but someone on here suggested using the probiotic powder.
