Hi does anyone know what this might be?

I just woke up this morning with swelling under one eye. Been sat in walk in centre today and the GP there also wasn’t really sure. He said if it’s still like this in a few days to go to the GP for them to run some kidney bloods as said swelling under the eye can be a sign of kidney conditions.

Its the first time it’s ever happened. No swelling anywhere else and I got bitten by something yesterday on my leg so thought it might be an allergic reaction but he didn’t seem to think it was related as my bites don’t have much of a reaction

Hello,

This exact same thing happened to my foster daughter a week ago, she was also bitten but on the face. Next morning she woke up and her one eye was exactly like your photos. I took her to the chemist who advised 24hrs of an anti-histamine and if no change to see a GP. Piriton did nothing so GP was consulted the next day who prescribed antibiotics. The eye began to improve then within 48hrs of starting the antibiotic and has slowly gone back to normal.

I really do not think this is to do with the kidneys
You would be puffy / swollen around both eyes if anything, but normally its the eyelids, feet, ankles and hands.

Looks like a bite, is it slightly red? If so, you may need to go back sooner for a cream or antibiotics

Gnat bite. Nice soft accessible area for one to munch on. Anthisan cream from the pharmacy will help.

I got bit by something in Cuba on holiday a few years ago. My face looked like that too.
