Moveable lump in side of neck

Hello all.

youll all be sick of me posting previously about my unintentional weight loss etc.

however the last 2 weeks I have found a lump in my neck around 2cm almond shaped. It feels moveable and doesn’t hurt. It doesn’t feel like a swollen lymph node and it’s not going away. I’ve been to GP and expressed my concerns as id already been to see them about unintentional weight loss. They felt it and he just said it’s nothing to worry about and that was it. Am I crazy to still be worrying?!?

plesse tell me your positive stories. I honestly am freaking out right now.

I had exactly the same in exact place last year. GP sent me for ultrasound where they were 100% certain it was a swollen lymph node and nothing sinister. Took a long time to go but did eventually

@Gatekeeper thank you! This is reassuring. I’m just so surprised they never sent me for a scan on it x

I rang the surgery for same day appointment, saw a nurse who had a feel and then referred me. I got an appointment for the ultrasound 3 weeks later so if I were you I would go back to your GP and ask for a referral

...and I didn't have unexplained weight loss , fatigue or night sweats etc but they referred me nonetheless

Hi all. An update for anyone looking at this post in the future. Lump never went, had an ultrasound scan on my whole neck. It was a swollen lymph node more prominent as it was sat on a muscle and with me being slim it stood out more. Hope this reassures any passers by x

HI, accidentally came to this post, good news to hear. @Lockdownbaby2021
what was your unintentional weight loss related to? Sorry for asking.

Lockdownbaby2021 · 21/10/2024 22:11

@Julieace they’re still investigating. However they’ve done so many bloods etc I think it will come down to just running around after my two boys. (I clock in 10,000 steps just staying at home with them) whereas I’ve recently gone back to work where I sit down all day so we shall see if it comes back on xx

@Julieace but the amount I’m eating etc but my partner / friends think I’m getting slimmer!! So frustrating xx

I have had swollen grape sized lymph nodes in my neck (Both sides) for several years now....I did get them checked a couple of times but always told they're nothing to worry about.I don't know if they will ever go away!

Julieace · 21/10/2024 22:31

Ta.. I have lost nearly a stone in weight this summer and it is still the same. So I'm not sure what is going on, gp still doesn't know. Anyway, getting some scans. I'm not sure if it is perimenopause related. x

NCISveryspecialagent · 21/10/2024 22:40

I'm glad to see this tbh! I also have this on my neck, GP and hospital consultant both said its nothing to worry about but I've never had a scan or anything and sometimes it does still worry me!

Lockdownbaby2021 · 21/10/2024 23:32

@NCISveryspecialagent if it’s still worrying you then push for a scan. For your own reassurance more than anything 🩷
I also had other symptoms throat related so they wanted to make sure there weren’t any other lump. I sleep with my mouth open and always wake with a sore throat, and always swallowing mucus. So they wanted to make sure there was nothing obstructing my airway.
I’m sure nothing to worry about, she said mine was kidney bean shaped and about an inch long. I think if it wasn’t for my other throat symptoms they wouldn’t have done an ultrasound xx
