how long for chicken pox (healed) spots to go away?

ds had chicken pox the week after easter. they are all dried up and healed. but quite a few of the 'spots' (hope this makes sense, they have scabbed over and scabs fallen off) are still visible on his chest and back. sometimes he still itches at them- not sure how long it will take until they go away? (anyone?)
we do discourage him from itching them so they dont scar....

Sorry, I can't remember as it was about 5 years ago when DH and DD1 had them.

I was advised to buy rosa mosquita (?sp) oil to help with the scarring. I used this on the facial ones. DH was covered with them and there is no sign that he had it except for one in his eyebrow. HTH
