Pain in breast and lump

If I have pain to accompany a lump I’ve found in my breast is it less likely to be cancerous? The pain caused me to examine my breast and find the lump.

Breast cancer is usually painless so I'm guessing not, but I'm not a doctor. My advice would be to go get it checked x

Unfortunately I’m out of the country for another ten days

Doc told me breast cancer rarely presents with pain, especially when you have just discovered it. Definitely do get checked anyway but it’s more likely it’s a cyst.

Era · 15/08/2024 21:21

How large are cysts? Or is that a how long is a piece of string question?

Is the lump hard or soft?

Does it feel on the skin or deep in tissue?

TransformerZ · 15/08/2024 22:43

Where abouts in the breast?

Have you had a lot of caffeine, alcohol, salt, junk food?
Are you due your period?
Have you used a new deodorant that you could be allergic to?

Don't touch it and aggravate it.

As PP see a doctor but try not to worry - all the above I listed are reasons when me or my friends have felt there was a chang and it turned out to be related to one of the above.

It feels quite firm and flattish. It’s sort of beneath and under the nipple probably about the size of a 5 pence piece. It isn’t on the surface and I can’t move it around. It’s tender when I feel for it and the reason I noticed it was that that breast has a constant dull pain.

no adverse changes in diet or anything. I dont have periods. I’m 50 and have a mirena coil which is being changed next month. I’m also on oestrogen only hrt and have been for about seven years.

I have a doctors appointment for the day I get back but it’s horrible not being able to get it checked. i’m struggling to think about anything else.

Like PP it could be a cyst.
Don't touch it and aggravate it.
It's going to be hard but tell yourself you've done what you can and you have a plan.
If you can go private where you are.

When I had my scare I went to Spire got it checked out in their one stop clinic, ultrasound and mammogram - cost about £1k. Report a few days later but they said on the day there was nothing.

The lumps were due to deodorant allergies which I figured out later that week, my nodes had become prominent.

I do have private health care but I’m currently in Greece.

In the meantime stay off caffeine, alcohol and dairy - at some point talk to a professional about your HRT patches, are they right for you? What are you oestrogen levels like etc

Era · 16/08/2024 11:50

Hmm, I only have ibuprofen with me so was planning on numbing the pain and stress with pina coladas…
