Really heavy period nearly 15 weeks after giving birth should I be worried?

I did have a very light period about 7 weeks ago so was expecting this one to be worse as it's really my first proper period since giving birth in January. For the first 2 days it was heavy but nothing abnormal. Today (the third day) I woke up this morning and my side of the bed was covered in blood. I am soaking an Always extra long normal towel every 20 minutes. Everytime I move I get a gush (sorry tmi). Mil had to take dd to school this morning and has taken ds1 so I only have the baby as I feel faint, dizzy, not with it and lacking in energy.

I don't remember my periods after having the other two being as bad as this and after the initial first day of my mc at 8 weeks I didn't even bleed this much! Should I be worried or should I just sit it out so to speak?

you should contact your GP and get your self seen asap. Soaking more then one towel an hour is not normal, certainly not three. Especially as you are feeling faint and dizzy.

agre with belgo, get seen today.

in fact, see if doc can come and see you

If it continues then I think you may need to call you GP and ask for some advice.

Heavy periods after giving birth are not uncommon but yours does sound alittle more than I would be comfortable with. Keep an eye on the bleeding but seek advice shortly if it doesn't calm down.

you are seeing the doc today then?

Ledodgy · 15/04/2008 14:15

I'll ring them and see what they say There won't be any appointments left today now and there's not a chance in hell they'll come out either so i'll just ask to speak to one.

Hi sorry i''m ok, I never got round to ringing the doctors. The baby needed feeding then we both had a nap. The bleeding isn't as heavy now i'm no longer getting the huge gushes so hopefully it's tailing off if it is as bad tommorrow monring as it was today i'll definately make a dr's appointment. Ty.
