but she won't let me take the plaster off apart from to change it .. I sprayed antiseptic on it and covered again this morning

it looks red raw hopefully like new skin forming .. doesn't seem swollen at all .. what would it look like if infected?

how long can I keep it covered for .. I was thinking till it went pink (has been 6 days covered so far, no chance of leaving it in air)

it is entire skin along entire top of middle section of middle finger btw

If it gets infected it will hurt more, rather than less, over the days. The finger would swell and get red, and there might be pus on the wound itself. Don't worry if the wound weeps or seems pusy without any swelling, that can be a normal part of healing.

Wet healing is very good for this sort of thing, if she won't let it air-heal. Use Jelonet under the plaster, or some white paraffin-based emollient.

thanks PC

like vaseline do you mean? (don't know what jelonet is, will look) is that instead of the antiseptic spray?

she has fat toddler fingers still but it doesn't look any fatter than the others to be honest .. didn't see pus .. just the edges of the blister kind of crinkling back to edges of finger(dead skin) .. she trapped it in a hinge and it kind of pulled the very fine top layer into a blister

I think you may have to ask for Jelonet over the counter. It comes in huge pieces, so just peel the backing off and cut off what you need as you need. You don't need to worry about sterility by now. I keep it in the fridge.

Vaseline isn't white paraffin. I don't know wehter it's good or not, as I avoid the stuff - it rbrings me out in a rash.

Or to get air to it, why not try plaster strips, the sort with the gauze down the middle, but you cut off a plaster-sized piece, and fixing it loosely. That way there's not sticky plaster stuck down all the way around the wound, so air can get to it.
