So as per title I had laprascopic hernia repair on both sides on Thursday. So 3rd day post op today. I'm struggling with how bloated and uncomfortable I am and frustrated at lack of energy. My tummy is swollen, I presume from the gas they fill it with? It feels tight and really uncomfortable, when will that go down? Pain is slightly less today, I'm managing on ibuprofen and paracetamol in the day, and tramadol at bedtime. I'm able to potter around the house a bit,and sit out a bit in the garden for a while. But I get tired quite easily. I'm frustrated because I'm normally a busy person. I can't contemplate even walking up the street, I thought I would be better than this 🙁 Does anyone know if this is all normal? Does it sound like I'm doing OK?

Ouch! I had open inguinal hernia repair a few months ago, but unilateral. I had it on a Wednesday and on the Sat I walked round the block w DH but it was tough going. I did feel better as every day passed though and after a week I was def walking normally again albeit slowly (doing stairs took longer) - a friend came on the Tuesday and we walked to the local park.
I’m not sure they blow you up as much in open surgery but it was very painful to go from sitting/lying to standing for a good few days.
I went back to wfh p/t just after a week as I was so bored!
Recently did a lot of walking on hols and had some pain there (3+ months). Did you have mesh? My surgeon said there will be a bit of pain on and off as it settles, but it’s not been too bad.

Yes I've got mesh on both sides. Stairs are tricky! I got stuck half way up yesterday 😂 it's going from sitting to standing that I find difficult as well. To be honest if the bloating went down I think I would feel better. At least I 've had a poo today - sorry tmi!
