I had a gyne consultation today for problems with midcycle bleeding and heavy periods , I had a scan of the uterus on 2nd april and the results where with the consultant. She done an internal and said she thought my uterus was a bit large and the scan confirmed this but scan showed nothing else(doc had said that she thought womb was a bit large too when she referred me) Consultant said I had a Nabothian Cyst ..totally harmless on the neck of my womb and popped it was not expecting that!!!!. Anyway she done a biopsy of the uterus... it was a bit uncomfortable but I will not know anything until a few weeks time. I am really concerned that the womb size may mean something more sinister otherwise why take a biopsy? Has any body any knowledge in this area that can give me some idea what this all means...hope you understand what I am trying to say cos my brain is not really functioning for making any sense.

I was told today that I had the biggest womb the dr had ever seen. For some reason this never bothered me and I started a thread about it . I wouldn't worry. It can lead to heavy periods as there is more lining to come away, I'm having mine burnt away

Thanks for that coco...I am a bit of a worry wart ..she never mentioned doing anything about it though hope your treatment sorts your womb out.

i had a biopsy as well but it was ok, i hink it's just a precaution. do you have to go back?

cositjustisok · 14/04/2008 18:24

Oh right..was hoping someone would say it was normal to have a biopsy...but as per usual I ALWAYS think the worst. I have to go back to get the results and maybe have the mirena coil fitted in a few weeks, they will write out to me with an appointment. Maybe then they will then discuss different treatments...hmm that would make sense then. DO you have any idea why you have a "bigger than average" womb, what reasons , if any did they give you.?

he never said, probably my 9lb babies! the coil will stop or lighten your periods.

I have to agree with you about the babies!!! I think as your womb has to stretch so much in pregnancy surely it is not always meant to go back to the size of a Lemon!!!!!and as I have had 4 babies I hope this could be the reason..my biggest was 8 10.
