Prednisolone and now a fever?

Hi all,

I had an asthma attack on Wednesday and was treated in A&E. They gave me 40mg of prednisolone afterwards and I'm now on day 2 of taking them.

Today I've developed a fever, only of 37.5/38 but I'm wondering is this purely a coincidence? I've had quite a bit of steroids this year (2nd course) in about 6 months. I feel pretty rubbish but no runny nose or anything, just hot! NHS says to contact a GP if you have a fever or chills and are taking steroids but I just have a mild temp nothing else and don't want to overreact!

I've never had my asthma so bad, either. So I don't really know what's normal and what's not! New to steroids too.

It's pretty likely to be the steroids. They make you run pretty hot. And sweat a lot and not sleep well. Hope you feel better soon x

If you had been on them for weeks and weeks they can make you immunosuppressed at that dose but as it’s only day 2 it’s likely to be coincidental or that you were brewing a virus and that might have even been what’s triggered the asthma attack.
