Anyone else get intense pressure in their bottom that makes them nauseous??!!

I know it sounds weird but every few months I get a weird episode of really intense pressure - like I (sorry) really need a poo - except I don’t.

I sit on the loo waiting for it to pass and the feeling is so strong, it makes me feel like I’m going to throw up. I honestly feel like I just want to lay on the bathroom floor.

I vaguely remember reading somewhere that it could be linked to endometriosis - which I don’t have - but I do have mild adenomyosis. Is it linked to that???

Anyone else had this before????

I've heard of this sort of thing being linked to the vegus nerve.

ClickClack300 · 31/07/2024 00:33

I’ve heard of something similar too. Can’t remember the name of it but an intense pains in your arse. I thought it was piles by that’s not what was described. I was asking a friend and she said she gets it

Dontfuckingsaycheese · 31/07/2024 00:35

Is this javelin arse? Frequently mentioned on here. Can’t offer any more info as haven’t experienced it.

Deebee90 · 31/07/2024 00:37

I get it frequently but mine is connected to my ulcerative colitis,

CatchHimDerry · 31/07/2024 00:38

I’ve had something similar, I’ve come to the conclusion it’s a pelvic floor issue of some kind like maybe cramps / spasm of the muscle as that’s the general kind of area affected.

Whether it is I have no idea. It doesn’t happen much thankfully

The nausea / vomit feeling I get more regularly and it’s linked to what I assume is IBS cramps

Not nice! Sorry you’re suffering OP

Walkinginthesand · 31/07/2024 04:54

Could it be linked to something you've eaten?

MooseBeTimeForSnow · 31/07/2024 05:36

I used to get Javelin Arse. Never made me want to throw up though - just briefly extremely painful. And for some reason it always used to happen when I was driving.

Violettateal · 31/07/2024 05:41

Isn't it IBS?

GodspeedJune · 31/07/2024 05:45

Javelin arse. I have experienced it due to endometriosis. Have you had a laparoscopy to check for endo? It is closely linked to adenomyosis.

Fooshufflewickjbannanapants · 31/07/2024 05:53

Yup javelin arse! I also have endometriosis and adenomyosis.

Nitw1t · 31/07/2024 05:57

I get this when I ovulate. I think only on one side though as it's not every month.

sofaofchange · 31/07/2024 06:04

It's called Proctalgia fugax and it's quite common. Its nothing to worry about and caused by muscle spasms.

I've had it myself and yes, it's breathtakingly painful, to the point you feel sick. I usually get it when I need the loo.

Mrsdyna · 31/07/2024 06:27

Only when I was heavily pregnant. Dreaded needing the loo!

Clueless2000 · 31/07/2024 08:14

Just looked up proctalgia fugax and yes I think it’s that! Glad to know it’s not just me!

Yes, me too.
Javelin arse, otherwise known as Proctalgia -- pp's are totally correct.

My attacks are usually at night but I've had three at daytime where I am rendered totally incapable of anything as the pain is so intense. Like you, I feel nauseous with the pain and nothing, NOTHING helps - you just have to let it run its course.

Mine last between 10-30 minutes and the only thing that eases it is so sit on the loo and bear down as if I am trying to poo (sorry TMI).

It's horrible but it doesn't seem to be linked with any other health issues.

peanutbuttertoasty · 31/07/2024 10:01

Yes as above. Utterly unbearable. Seems worse when I’ve had a period of drinking alcohol I think. Normally lasts about 30 mins and is utterly incapacitating

Clueless2000 · 31/07/2024 15:49

It’s so bloody weird. Do men get it too? Bet they don’t 🙄
