Towards the end of the day yesterday, having had a busy day with the kids in the heat, I sat down for a couple of hours to watch the Olympics. While I was sat, I noticed a pain in my left leg near my knee, a bit stabby but upon feeling the area it felt sort of tender, a bit bumpy and bruised. Nothing visible apart from my veins being slightly more obvious than usual. Then I gradually got more pain around my ankles and my calves started aching. It's a heavy, aching pain and my ankles felt like they should be swollen and puffy but they weren't. This sort of thing keeps happening intermittently over the last few months. I don't know if it's hormonal or circulation related or something. Anyway, I went to bed with my legs raised on a large pillow, which helped a bit. The pain is still there this morning but not quite as bad. I do have some thread veins and quite a lot of visible veins around my feet/ankles. They don't look massively varicose (my mum has them badly) but I'm wondering whether to invest in some compression socks? Or should I wait for a proper diagnosis?
