It varies. In my experience gargling makes a huge difference, as well as antibiotics of course. Maybe a couple of weeks max. Good luck.

Thank you

Looks like a tonsil stone or cyst I would say, they’re harmless but unsightly. I had one recently, still have it in fact, months later and it’s much bigger than yours and the doc wasn’t worried. Try not to worry, hard I know.

Thank you you comment helps my anxiety

Don't panic. It's tonsillitis but it looks like it has begun to abscess. It's called Quinsy. The doc will give you antibiotics.

It does not look anything like Quinsy. The greyish spot is on the pharynx. Tonsils are not really visible in this photo. There is a small white patch on the anterior arch/near the tonsil.

See a Dr if you are worried please OP.

My daughter gets them, she uses a cotton tip to get rid of them.

Tonsillitis or strep… both can make you feel pretty poorly. Gargle with warm salt water, take ibuprofen and contact your GP for antibiotics if it gets worse.

It could be a mucous retention cyst. I had one for quite a while in the same area although bigger than that. It eventually popped whilst I was vomiting due to hyperemesis so I ended up not needing the tonsillectomy I was waiting for
