Septo rhinoplasty recovery

I had septo rhinoplasty on Monday to correct a deviated septum and collapsed valves in my nostrils caused by cleft lip and was wondering if anyone had had the same done?

So far I think it’s going well and my face is a bit less puffy and I seem to have avoided the black eyes.

Any hints on recovery? I’m having stitches out and the cast removed on Monday which I’m not looking forward to.

I had rhinoplasty following an accident where they had to rebuild my nose. My goodness it was painful! But the worst bit was where they pulled the tampon like thing out my nostrils after surgery. After that, recovery wasn't too bad and it just took a few weeks for the swelling to go down.

I didn't take arnica but I know some people suggested it. Just make sure you're resting properly to recover - it's a nasty operation!

Pulling the tampons out was horrific! I’m spending most of my time on the sofa feeling sorry for myself leaking blood and snot. I’m hoping once the cast comes off next week I’ll be more comfy.

Fingers crossed you're feeling a lot better by then!

I forgot - I also avoided dairy when I was recovering as it can make some people more blocked up (it does for me). If it doesn't have an impact on you, I wouldn't worry but I was a bit paranoid about blocking my nose up more!

Not a thing I've ever gone through, but Good Luck and KBO!!!

Hi,
I know this is an old thread, but I was wondering how you’ve been since the surgery? Was it worth it? I’ve been offered the same. I have a deviated septum and a collapsed valve. Debating whether to go for it or not.
Thankyou!

It’s been great! The recovery was rough for the first two weeks but after that I was fine and back at work not really needing pain relief.

I can finally breathe through through my now:) I still mouth breathe a bit but that’s habit rather than need.

My sense of taste and smell were affected and didn’t really come back fully until 6 months after the op.

Happy to answer any questions if you have them.
