Does this sound like it could be my ears? Help me to stop spiralling.

For the last three days I've had weird headaches, started in my right temple and it was really sore and achy, then it started behind my ears, in my jaw and around my face, then it moved to both sides, and also my scalp feels sore, I keep getting bursts of light headedness where I feel a bit faint, only lasting a few seconds and I just feel really rough, my eyes feel really watery and tired. Plus I've had really tight muscles in the back of my neck too. Ive been really panicking about it. To top it off I've now got a bit of a stomach ache. I don't know what's wrong but I'm in need of some reassurance, similar experiences or a hand hold. DP is out for the football and 2yo is up in bed, I'm on my own and starting to get really panicking bout it which is making everything worse. I do have an anxiety disorder and OCD as well so I'm really spiralling right now.

Gosh this could have been me writing this!

I’ve had bizarre headaches for 2 weeks now, like tension headache that keeps moving to different places in my head. It feels like pressure in a certain place. Yesterday it shifted to be sort of behind my ear but it woke me up - it’s worse at night.

I started on ADs a month or so ago so am putting it down to side effects but the reason I’m on them is health anxiety so I have obviously convinced myself I have something seriously wrong, even though logically it’s probably side effects/a weird virus/the anxiety itself!

I hope they ease for you and you can get some rational thought going. You know it is likely to be something easily explained and more logical than the worst case scenario but I’m really sorry you suffer with health anxiety too, it’s horrid.

Thank you. I don't currently take any medications for it, as I've yri s them all over the years and.nkt really hot any relief. I've convinced myself I have an aneurysm or something. I'm really panicking and just feel so terrible. I'm trying to keep rational but I know that my symptoms are real physical symptoms and not.innmt head. But yes the panicking makes it worse doesn't it

It sounds like stress and possibly teeth grinding. Given your anxiety history I'd be very surprised if you didn't grind your teeth.

It hurts! My whole face used to hurt.

Interesting! My dentist did tell me once that he thinks I grind teeth in my sleep as I had some chips in my teeth he said meant I grins my teeth. I did not know this could cause that. It's only started in the last few days, I find as the day goes on the pain gets worse x

I've had exactly the same. I didn't even try and get a drs appointment as too much hassle but saw my chiropractor because I was so worried about the light headedness. He checked me over and said I had had a virus. So my guess is this is a really weird virus that starts in the ears/sinus region then becomes light headedness. I was really dizzy for three days. Hope yours passes soon. All in all from first headache feeling round my eye to feeling totally well was about 10 days.

AnnaMagnani · 14/07/2024 20:15

Did your dentist not offer you a mouthguard?

I first was diagnosed when I turned up to the dentist because all my teeth hurt. I was freaking out.

He took one look and pointed out how I'd ground all the tops of my teeth flat.

The tension builds up over my cheeks, jaw, scalp and neck.

No he didn't. I was only there for a routine check up and he just sent me on my way.

And yes one side oft cheeks and nose has been sore so. Feels quite sinus sore but it's the same if that makes sense.

tight neck muscles can cause tension headaches

you could try a hot water bottle / wheat bag around neck to see if that eases anything. Or some gentle neck stretches (search YouTube for neck yoga - be very gentle).

do painkillers help? Anxiety can def make everything worse. Have you tried some deep breathing / meditation to calm your thoughts?

Hope you feel better asap

Theunamedcat · 14/07/2024 20:25

Take regular painkillers

Do any otc remedies like calms chill you down?

Try a heat pad too

I do this where I get tense I hurt myself then because I cannot CALM I get worse and aggravate my symptoms basically I need to relax to recover but cannot relax therfore it takes longer to recover 🙄 so annoying

Yes I've tried hot water bottle and painkillers but nothing seems to be helping much.

I have thought about this and I did a test which was negative (although I've had these tests a while so not sure if they expire?!) everyone else in my house is fine.

I woke up yesterday feeling dizzy with nausea and a hot flush, I think it’s a virus because I was really tired too. Also my ds had been complaining of a headache and sleeping more for the last 2 days.
Slept loads yesterday and feel better today but have a headache on and off today.

AphraBean · 14/07/2024 20:32

I've got covid - positive test- and have all the symptoms you describe.

She did a lateral flow test on around day 7 and it was instantly strongly positive. I was in the same room on on a daily basis, but did not catch it.

AphraBean · 14/07/2024 20:35

Yes I've been sleeping all ight then having naps in the day as well- which I never do! I've also had tummy ache and diarrhoea (sorry tmi) but that's gone now.

I've just got weird stomach pains no diarrhea or sickness or anything. No typical flu symptoms either

Your OP screamed a tone of panic and stress to me. When I get stressed, I grind my teeth and when I've had a massive session of it I can't tell you how much it hurts in my temples and my jaw. I imagine with a different shaped jaw you could get it behind the ears too.

The rest could be completely unrelated. Light headed - are you eating enough? Watery, tired eyes reeks of lack of sleep. Tight neck muscles? You're too tense from the stress. Stomach ache? Well, that can be stress too!

See a doctor Flowers

ThrowingShapes · 14/07/2024 20:37

I was in hospital two weeks ago with a gallbladder infection, so maybe I piced something up. I've since recovered.
