Any idea of recovery after dislocated knee?

I dislocated my knee on Wednesday. I fell off the soft play thing I was climbing and it popped back into place. I was told to go to minor injuries, who gave me a knee brace but literally no advice as they said fracture clinic would speak with me the next day. They then cancelled that appointment because I was out of county so I had to call my GP yesterday to get a referral to local fracture clinic, which I'm still waiting to be sorted. Might not hear anything until at least Monday.

To clarify, it's not broken, but apparently fracture clinic deals with dislocations too.

So basically I don't know anything about how much I need to wear the brace, how long for, etc. etc. I found an NHS page that said I would have to wear it for 6 weeks, but that seems crazy long time to not be able to bend your leg and walk normally? I'm not sure if that's what they say.to everyone or just in certain cases. Does anyone have any experience of a dislocated knee and how long the various stages of recovery took please?

Freaking out a bit because of course the summer holiday is quickly approaching and I have a very active 4yo!
