Is this the start of a leg ulcer?

A friend of mine aged 78 has a very swollen leg, (it's paralysed due to a stroke) it's full of fluid and if I touch it my finger leaves an imprint for a short time. It's been getting worse every time I see her (once a week) I noticed a mark which she says is nothing and it's where she knocked it. It's weeping the fluid from her leg. Could this be the start of an ulcer?

Yes, I think so. My mum had them for several years and they only went when she was bed bound with a broken leg.

It does look like it contact her doctor and he will arrange for the district nurse to come and they will bandage it If they want her to have an ankle-brachial test I would not advise it as it is very painful it can be treated without it

The fluid leaking sounds like lymphodema which can be treated with compression garments from the district nurse.
