What could this be - looking for reassurance!

I have an appointment booked with my gp to have this slightly raised area of skin on my leg looked at. It has come up in the last few weeks.

I have been doing exactly what I tell friends not to do! I have googled it!! Now I’ve really worried myself. I have generalised anxiety and health anxiety so that was a really silly thing to do.

Please can anyone reassure me whilst I wait for my appointment with my gp which is in a few days? I know nobody can tell me what it actually is and im not asking anyone to diagnose me, I’m just looking for some reassurance after scaring myself silly!!

I've had one come
Up on my leg. Thought it was a skin tag or something.

Is it flat or a bump? If it’s flat it just looks like a big freckle. If it’s a bump it could be a keloid scar. I’ve got one, it’s where an injury didn’t heal very well and it makes a lump.

Itsjustmyusername · 03/07/2024 09:34

@curlycurlymoo have you had it checked out?

@Saramiah It’s slightly raised.

Looks like a keloid then. I have one on my arm that’s pretty much identical. It was once a spot which didn’t heal very well, so now it’s a little keloid scar.

curlycurlymoo · 04/07/2024 10:30

@Itsjustmyusername no never had it checked.

Itsjustmyusername · 04/07/2024 20:50

@Saramiah thank you. About a month ago I think I was bitten by something on the same spot so maybe that is it.

Google dermatofibroma. Looks like that to me.

Susieblue18 · 05/07/2024 22:40

I e had a few of these on my legs and they were harmless dermatofibromas

I have one of those on my shoulder, same size same colour. My mum has some too! I’ve been assuming they are Age related skin moles! Usually caused by hormone fluctuations.

Had mine checked. It was a wart. It's gone now.

I have one of these that appeared after a wasp sting. It's good to get it checked but it looks very similar to what I have OP.
