Help me figure this out. Elevated Serum lactate dehydrogenase level

I've been unwell with vague symptoms for about 20 months now.

Many tests were done but we are still not nearer the answer. I had a wide panel of bloods done and two things that stood out for me:

Serum lactate dehydrogenase level 239 u/L [125.0 - 220.0]; Above high reference limit

  • it was also elevated in a similar value about a 16 months ago

Serum inorganic phosphate level 0.79 mmol/L [0.8 - 1.5]; Below low reference limit

I think LDH is key to finding out what's wrong with me. I am so scared about what would it be and so tired of not having answers.

My thoughts currently are heart disease of some sort, bowel cancer or another cancer.

Your best bet is to ask the person who requested it - they must have had some sort of thought about what they were looking to diagnose/exclude when they ordered it. On its own it’s not terribly helpful - it needs to be interpreted in the context of medical history, examination, medications, other test results.

It was ordered by my GP but by a suggestion of a rapid cancer diagnostic service. They didn't want to see me in person as prevoous tests were all normal and asked to do these.

I do have extreme fatigue, night sweats and breathlessness, some bowel symptoms .

Full blood count and many other tests are still normal. But LD was about the same over a year ago when I started to feel as I am still feeling.

I just can't take the wait for answers anymore. I am collapsing with the stress of it.
