today she was playing with one of those hard plastic flip down chairs in the gallery of the swimming pool and shouted ow

all the top layer of skin between her knuckle and the top joint (about 1.5cm long and 0.5cm wide) looks like it's been pulled away from the rest with a 2mm square hole in the middle .. if I didn't know better I'd swear it was a huge burst blister

it's clean and has a plaster on it

can't work out how she did it tbh .. it looks painful (and was of course) so I'll leave it covered for a bit .. that's ok isn't it

(pathetic aren't I? )

I would have done the same thing. Don't keep the plaster on too long though as it will take longer to heal x

Think it will be OK.

Any major swelling, soreness or pus get her to GP

avenanap · 09/04/2008 20:03

How deep are you talking here? Is it the whole layer of skin (leaving a flap/space where you can see bone)?

Twiglett · 09/04/2008 20:06

god no .. sorry it's like a tissue like layer of top skin that has pulled away .. exactly the same colour as a blister

the hole is just like a cut to red skin really .. there was no obvious blood

really can't work out how she did it

She probably pinched the skin and part of it came off leaving the "burst blister" effect. It'll be fine

ahhhh

gives me the heebie-jeebies ....

She would have got her skin caught in the chair and it's scrapped a bit of the top layer of skin off. Keep the plaster on until it stops stinging but you will need to take it off so that it can dry. If it starts to smell, ooze, swell or go red you need to take her to the GP. Also check the area and check for hotness. Change the plaster daily.
